How is typing speed (WPM) calculated?▾
WPM is calculated by dividing the number of correctly typed characters by 5 (the standard word length) and then dividing by the time in minutes. Net WPM also subtracts a penalty for errors.
What is a good typing speed?▾
The average typing speed is 40 WPM. Above 60 WPM is considered fast, above 80 WPM is professional level, and 100+ WPM is expert. This tool shows your rating after each test.
How is typing accuracy calculated?▾
Accuracy is the percentage of correctly typed characters out of all typed characters. For example, typing 90 correct characters out of 100 total gives 90% accuracy.
